Beth Shibata in "RED" at Blank Wall Gallery

PADA member Beth Shibata has had two images accepted into RED, an international photography exhibition at the Blank Wall Gallery in Athens, Greece. Her selected works are Closed for the Night and Democracy: Closed. Congratulations, Beth!

To paraphrase the exhibition description by the Blank Wall Gallery, RED explores the emotional and symbolic power of one of the most intense colors in human experience — passion, love, strength, danger, and energy — and brings together photographers from more than thirty countries who each reveal a different meaning or interpretation of the color.

The exhibition runs from May 22 through June 3, 2026, and the full slate of selected images can be viewed online at Blank Wall Gallery. The gallery itself is located at 55 Fokionos Negri Street, 11361 Athens, Greece.

The base image for Democracy: Closed is a segment of the exterior of the Center for Democracy taken while in downtown Los Angeles on a Sunday afternoon. Closed for the Night was made from an image of a gelato shop on the Redondo Pier. She has also posted her two accepted images on her Instagram page, @beth.noire where more of her photography can be seen. Her entries are shown below.
